I used to think the old Packard Plant was a lost cause

I was having coffee with a developer at the Avalon on Bagley last spring. She pointed at the skyline and said, 'You see that? Every crane is a bet on a future someone else said was impossible.' She had just closed on a small lot near Eastern Market for adaptive reuse. That one line flipped my whole view. Now I'm looking at old buildings differently. Anyone else have a moment that made them see a Detroit property in a new light?

Honestly that crane line hits hard. Drove past the Fisher Body plant for years just seeing a ruin. Then they started cleaning the bricks and I saw the old shape again. It was like watching a skeleton get its skin back. Makes you realize how much good bone structure this city has left. Some spots just need someone to believe in them enough to start.

That cleanup phase is crucial for getting investors to look twice. Once the old bones show through, people can actually picture what it could be. Just gotta push past the initial ugly stage.

Find the right bones and the whole body remembers how to stand.
