That 6 month gap between the Hudson's site rendering and the actual foundation pour

I walked past the Hudson's site every day for work back in early '23. The big renderings on the fence showed this glass tower, looked like something out of a movie. Then nothing happened for 6 months. Just a hole in the ground and some rebar poking up. Got to talking to a site foreman I know, and he said the soil conditions under the old foundation were way worse than the reports showed. They had to sink piles an extra 40 feet deeper than planned. Has anyone else seen this kind of delay between the hype render and the real work starting?

Ngl that foreman probably just gave you a story to make the site look more interesting than it really was. Six months is nothing for a project that size, especially when you factor in permitting delays and contractor scheduling. The soil report thing sounds like a convenient excuse, but the truth is most big developments sit around waiting for the financing to finalize or the labor to show up. Renderings are just marketing, they don't mean anything until the concrete trucks actually roll in.

Yeah I used to buy into all the renderings and hype but you just completely changed how I see that stuff now.
