That abandoned building on Gratiot showed me why I need liability waivers
I was checking out a potential pop-up space on Gratiot two months ago. Stepped on a loose floorboard and fell straight through to the basement. Got stuck down there for 20 minutes before a guy walking by heard me yelling. Now I bring a hard hat and a buddy with me to every walkthrough. Anyone else nearly kill themselves looking at cheap Detroit commercial spaces?

Man, you've got a whole new level of risk assessment now. That's just Detroit real estate for you - one wrong step and you're auditioning for a horror movie. Glad you didn't break anything important down there besides maybe a little dignity.
Now I always check for loose floorboards with a long stick first. Call it the "basement avoidance probe." Actually had a buddy who fell through a ceiling in an old warehouse once, so you're not alone in the "nearly died for cheap rent" club.

Wait, you used to think cheap rent was worth the risk? Yeah, that basement story totally flipped my thinking on that.
