A kid in a cafe in Lisbon asked me what my job was
I was working at a table near the window last week, and a boy, maybe 10, pointed at my laptop and asked his mom what I did for work. She said, 'He works from his computer, from anywhere.' It made me think back to 2015 when I first started, and I had to explain the whole idea to everyone, even family. Now it's just a normal thing a kid can see and get. What's the most normal thing about this life now that felt totally weird when you started?

Man, I read this article about how paying contractors or freelancers online is just a given now. Back when I started, asking a client to use PayPal or a bank transfer instead of a paper check felt like explaining alien tech. Now it's the default and nobody blinks.

Totally get the "explaining alien tech" part. My buddy had a client in 2010 who insisted on mailing a check for a website, then got mad it took two weeks to clear. He finally got them to use a bank transfer by drawing diagrams on a napkin during their lunch meeting.
