Chose a cheap coliving spot in Mexico over a nicer hostel and regretted every second of it

Ngl, I booked a $350 a month coliving space in Mexico City instead of spending $500 on a well reviewed hostel with proper wifi. The coliving had a 'coworking area' that was just a table in the hallway where the dryer ran constantly. I couldn't get a single Zoom call done without buffering for like 4 days straight. Ended up working from a Starbucks every morning which cost me extra, plus I had to buy noise canceling headphones. Has anyone else tried saving money on housing and just ended up paying more in the long run?

$350 sounds cheap until you're spending $8 a day on Starbucks just to get a stable connection. That hallway table coworking area is always a red flag too.

Call it a pet peeve but I've seen plenty of people make that work just fine without the daily latte tax. The hallway flex is usually just a minor annoyance, not a dealbreaker.
