Found out most digital nomads I meet are actually staying put for months, not moving every week

Honestly, I was reading a survey from a nomad blog last month. It said over 60% of people who call themselves digital nomads stay in one place for at least three months at a time. I found that in Chiang Mai. I always thought the whole point was constant movement, like a new country every few weeks from the Instagram posts. But tbh, after being here for two months myself, it makes total sense. Setting up a good work routine, finding a solid cafe with fast wifi, and actually getting to know a neighborhood takes time. The constant travel hustle seems more like a fantasy for most people who actually need to get work done. Has anyone else settled into a longer stay somewhere and found it way better for actually getting stuff done?

My friend spent a fortune on flights trying to be a travel influencer. He ended up just posting pictures of airport lounges and hotel wifi passwords. The whole "always moving" lifestyle is mostly a marketing trick for selling online courses. Real work needs a real desk, or at least a cafe that knows your coffee order.

Oh man, that "new country every week" thing is total Instagram bait. I tried the fast travel thing for a month and spent half my time just looking for a power outlet and a stable connection. It was a nightmare. The idea sounds cool but the reality is you just can't get any real work done. Staying put for a few months means you can actually focus instead of always planning your next move. It turns out being a digital nomad is mostly about working from another country, not being on a permanent vacation.

You posted hotel wifi passwords online? That's like leaving your front door wide open. Some random person could just walk into the network and see everything. Did your friend ever get weird charges on his bill or get locked out of his accounts? That seems like a huge security risk for a few likes.
