Hot take: That "work from anywhere" advice was completely wrong for me
A guy in a coworking space in Chiang Mai told me to just pick a place with good wifi and a nice view and the work would take care of itself. Six months later I was bouncing between four countries, working at different hours each week, and my sleep schedule was a mess. Turns out what I actually needed was a consistent routine and a proper desk, not a beach view. Anyone else find that the whole "anywhere" part of digital nomad life is actually a trap?

Did you ever try doing the opposite and staying put in one of those places for like 3 months at a time? I mean, I feel like the whole point of working remote is to have a home base you actually like, not just constantly hopping around.

Oh man, that's actually a really good point! I just read this article about slow travel where staying put for months actually lets you build a real routine and get to know a place properly. I feel like racing through four countries in six months would leave me exhausted and probably broke from all the flights. Have you ever tried a medium option like two months in one spot and then hopping to another for a while?
