I finally had to admit that just buying a local SIM in every country isn't the fastest solution

Spent like 3 full days in Medellin last month bouncing between carriers trying to get data working on my phone. I usually just grab a SIM at the airport and move on. But this time I had to do a client call on day one and nothing worked. Took me from Tuesday morning until Friday afternoon to just get a stable connection. The whole time I was thinking, why didn't I just look up an eSIM option before leaving. Anyone else have a country where the SIM setup took way longer than you expected?

Yeah Colombia's a pain for that, took me forever to get Claro working there too.

Claro took me three separate visits to their office in Bogota before they finally got my line active. Their customer service is useless unless you know someone who works there.

Why not just tether off your laptop's hotspot?
