My co-working space internet crashed during a client call and everyone else was fine with it

I was on a Zoom call with a client in Melbourne last Tuesday when the whole building's wifi went down for 20 minutes. The front desk just shrugged and said 'happens sometimes' but I had to hotspot off my phone and burned through 2GB of data. Everyone else in the co-working space just sat there scrolling on their phones like nothing was wrong. Am I the only one who thinks reliable internet is non-negotiable for a digital nomad space, or do you guys just accept these outages?

Isn't that just part of the deal with shared spaces?

The guy in 3B at my old building used to leave his trash bags right by the elevator for hours and it stunk up the whole floor. @brooke767 you're totally right that it comes with the territory, but some people just take it to another level. I ended up just writing a note and sliding it under his door, which actually worked for a while.

Man I feel your pain on this. Had the exact same thing happen at a WeWork in Austin last year. What worked for me was asking the front desk for a backup hotspot or a dedicated ethernet cable they could rent out for emergencies. Most places have one they just don't advertise it.
