Question about coworking memberships after I threw away $300

I signed up for a fancy coworking spot in Medellin last month because I thought it would force me to be more productive. Paid $300 up front for a whole month and only used it like 5 times. Turns out I work way better from cafes or my apartment and the open office noise drove me nuts. On one hand, having a dedicated desk with good WiFi is a solid choice for people who need structure. On the other hand, I feel like a total fool for buying the big package instead of just paying daily. What do you all do? Do you commit to a monthly membership or just bounce around?

Oh man, I've been there... that sinking feeling when you realize you could've just paid as you went. What I do now is try a place for a week on day passes before I even think about a monthly commitment. That way you get a real feel for the noise level and vibe without dropping a ton of cash upfront. Some coworking spots also offer punch cards for like 10 visits if you want a middle ground between daily and monthly.

Honestly, @bennett.nora makes a solid point about trying day passes first - that's how I caught the noise issue too, though I still screwed up by buying a big package later. Did you find that certain times of day had way different vibes, or was the noise just consistently bad from the start? I'm trying to figure out if it's worth testing a spot at different hours before committing to anything.

So you mention "try a place for a week on day passes" - did that actually help you catch the noise issue before committing, or did the vibe change after you signed up long term? I'm curious because some spots seem great for a few days but the cracks show after week two. Honestly, that sinking feeling is the worst, but at least now you know cafes are your real jam.
