Serious question, how do you handle a bad internet week in a new city?

I got stuck in Medellin last month with a dead SIM card and my Airbnb wifi was useless. Ended up buying a cheap local phone just to hotspot, which saved a client call. What's your backup plan when the connection totally fails?

Did you look for any coworking spaces nearby? Most have day passes and way better internet than random Airbnbs. That's my go-to move before buying more hardware.

Honestly coworking spaces are a total gamble. I paid for a day pass at a WeWork in Austin last month and the wifi cut out for two hours during a client call. You're still sharing bandwidth with like fifty other people, it's just more expensive than a coffee shop. Sometimes the Airbnb host has a legit fiber setup because they work from home too. I'd rather test that first and buy a mobile hotspot as a backup.

My last WeWork day pass cost more than Riley's hotspot.
