TIL coworking passes are actually worth the money

I was super skeptical about paying $200 for a monthly coworking pass in Chiang Mai. Figured I could just work from cafes like I always do. But after 3 days of bad wifi and buying expensive iced lattes just to sit there, I gave it a shot. The quiet zones alone are worth it, I got more done in 4 hours than I usually do in a full day. Has anyone else been surprised by how much a dedicated desk changes your workflow?

@mila_harris "hear yourself think" is exactly it. I was shocked how much background noise was eating my productivity.

I mean, the part about "getting more done in 4 hours than a full day" really hit home for me. I had the exact same experience when I finally caved and got a pass in Bali last year. I was so stubborn about just using cafe wifi and buying overpriced drinks, but honestly the constant noise and having to pack up every hour or two was killing my focus. The quiet zones in proper coworking spaces are such a game changer, like you can actually hear yourself think. It feels kind of silly paying for something that seems so simple, but once you try it, it's hard to go back. I'm glad it worked out for you, it's always nice when a gamble pays off like that.

Honestly, I feel like this is one of those things that sounds great but people just overthink it. Is a bit of background noise really that big of a deal for getting work done? Most people waste way more time scrolling on their phone than they do packing up a bag at a cafe. And paying for a quiet room just feels like you're paying for something you could get for free at a library. I mean, I get that some people really need that total silence, but it just seems like a lot of effort and money for something that's not that hard to work around.
