That $15 jar of fancy honey was a waste of money

Bought some local 'raw wildflower honey' from a farmers market in Boise last weekend. Guy swore it was life changing. Got it home, tried it on some toast and in tea. Honestly tasted just like the $6 stuff from Winco. I wanted to believe there was a difference but my taste buds just dont agree. Has anyone else been burned by overpriced honey?

Read something a while back that said most honey sold as "raw" or "wild" isn't much different from the big brands because bees don't care about price tags. I'd try using that fancy stuff in a marinade or baking, where the subtle flavors might actually show up, but on toast? Probably not worth the extra nine bucks.

Man I had the exact same realization last year. I bought this $18 jar of "wildflower honey" from a farmer's market that was supposed to be super special, did a side by side with the $5 store brand on some buttered toast, and honestly couldn't tell the difference. It was pretty disappointing because I wanted to be all fancy but my taste buds just aren't that advanced I guess. Now I just buy the cheap stuff for toast and save the good stuff for when I'm making teriyaki or something where you can actually taste the difference.
