That burnt toast comment from my dad changed how I season cast iron
My dad took one bite of my scrambled eggs last Tuesday and said 'tastes like you seasoned the pan with regret.' Turns out I was using way too high heat on my 12-inch Lodge skillet. I dropped the burner down to medium-low and started adding butter before anything hits the pan. Has anyone else gotten weird food feedback that actually fixed a blind spot in your cooking?

My mom once told me my chili tasted "like it was mad at something." Turns out I was dumping in so much cumin it overpowered everything else. Now I measure it properly and my chili actually tastes like chili instead of regret. That toast comment from your dad is gold, honestly the brutal ones are usually the most helpful.

Brutal honesty is just rudeness dressed up as helpfulness though.
