Forget fermentation weights, they're a waste of money
I used to think glass weights were a must for safe ferments. They are tough to clean and can shatter. Now, I just pack the jar down hard with my fist. The brine stays on top if you do it right. My last kimchi batch was perfect without any weights. Skip the extra stuff and trust your packing. It saves time and works just as well.

Honestly, why do we always buy extra gear when the old way works fine? Tbh, I see this with so many household things. Your packing trick just proves we overthink stuff.

Marketing taps into that little voice saying newer must be better, even when logic says otherwise. I mean, we're kinda wired to want the upgrade even if the old thing gets the job done.

Totally get that with tools too. My old drill works perfectly fine but I still catch myself looking at new models. What’s the last thing you almost upgraded for no real reason?
