My fermented beet kvass turned the counter purple for a week

I was making my first batch of beet kvass last Sunday. I didn't realize how much the beets would bleed during fermentation. The jar bubbled over and stained everything nearby a bright pinkish-purple. It took multiple cleanings to get the color out. I'm sticking to lighter-colored ferments from now on.

Heard beet stains are a nightmare to clean up.

Have you ever tried to get beet juice out of a white shirt? I made the mistake of wearing one while cooking beets last week, and I looked like I lost a fight with a berry bush. No amount of soap or soaking seemed to help at all. I actually gave up and now that shirt is my dedicated "beet murder" apron, lmao. The stain somehow spread to my countertop too, and it's still there. I'm convinced beet juice is just permanent dye in disguise. My whole kitchen reminds me of my failure every time I walk in.

Tell me about it, what even is in that stuff? I once spilled beet juice on my light colored kitchen rug and tried every trick online. Now I just tell people it's a modern art piece about regret. At least red wine stains try to hide a little, beet juice is just out there proud of what it did.
