Warning about those cheap airlock kits from the big online store
Bought a 5-pack for $25 and three of them cracked within a month, ruining a whole batch of sauerkraut. Anyone found a brand that actually holds up?

Ugh, that's the worst. It feels like everything is cheap plastic now, not just fermenting stuff. My favorite coffee mug just cracked in the same way.

Yeah those cheap kits are a total gamble. I switched to using the simple glass weight and pickle pipe method instead. Just a basic jelly jar weight with a silicone airlock lid, costs about the same but actually lasts.

Honestly, I was all about the fancy airlocks before. Seeing that setup makes a lot more sense for just keeping things simple and submerged. You've convinced me to switch.
