Just realized my local paper's critic got replaced by a clickbait writer

I was reading reviews for the new superhero movie, and EVERY single one said the same thing. It's like they're all scared to have a real opinion anymore. I miss when critics would actually debate and disagree. Now it's just a chorus of safe takes that don't help me decide what to watch. It makes me wonder if they even care about movies anymore.

Have you considered that maybe the movie is just really solid and everyone actually agrees? Those safe takes help regular people decide if they'll enjoy a night out without getting confused by film jargon. Critics agreeing might mean the movie did its job well, no conspiracy needed. Clickbait writers often focus on what matters to audiences, like cool action or funny moments. Not every film needs deep debate to be good, sometimes a fun time is just a fun time. If all the reviews point to a decent movie, maybe that's useful info lol.

Or maybe they're all just afraid to disagree.

Remember when I overanalyzed a popcorn flick for twenty minutes only to conclude "yep, the explosions were big"? Wade's point hits home. Sometimes a movie just works for what it is, and a bunch of people saying "it's fun" is actually perfect info. Saves me from my own dumb habit of looking for hidden meaning in a car chase. I'm the problem, not the critics.
